Bearbrick is a collectible toy designed and produced by a Japanese company MediCom Toy Incorporated. The name comes from the figure’s cartoon-style look of a bear, and MediCom’s Kubrick design.
The bear is a very simple form with a pot belly, with all the main joints having articulation and the ability to swivel.
The Bearbrick was first released in 2001 as a free gift for those lucky visitors of the World Character Convention in Tokyo. Now, they have been seen in several different sizes and using various materials, including wood, felt, and glow-in-the-dark plastic.
The standard size is seven centimeters high, just perfect for a pocket…oh wait, these are collectible…perfect for the shelf. 🙂
These cute little critters are usually sold in blind boxes, which means you don’t get to see what you get, until you get home. What a cute little collectors toy!
Here are some of my favorites, just in case you are looking for that perfect birthday gift for me!
