Stop and Smell the Flowers

There are many variants of the quote, “Stop and smell the flowers”.

Interestingly it is a misquote of advice from the golfer Walter Hagen that appeared in the 1956 book “TheWalter Hagen Story”.

The original quote from the book was:

You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry. Don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.

To find out more you can visit the Yale Book of Quotations – give it some time to load, it is trying to load an entire book after all. 🙂
The photo is of a Ryū ka (竜花), or Dragon Flowers in English.  Find time to delve into your passions, what makes you smile, this is really what it means to stop and smell the flowers.
